Still reading 'The Slap'. Not sure if I like it or not. When reading it I feel as if I am in a documentary. I made that comment to the friend I borrowed the book from and she said that the writer was known for his 'social realism', I have a week and a half to finish it before bookclub. I think it will be an interesting discussion. There are many themes that could be taken from the book: parenting, corporal punishment, fidelity in marriage, drug culture, migrant experience, generation gap, friendship. Hmm, maybe the book's meant to make you examine your own thoughts on these matters.
One week before my mother's birthday so I better get a wriggle on with the butterfly brooch.
